Final works on the 400 kV Choczewo–Żarnowiec power line

At the end of December 2025, #AltergaTeam carried out the final works on the 400 kV Choczewo–Żarnowiec overhead power line. The aim of our activities was to correct the sagging of the phase conductors of one phase.

Changes in the length of power line sag are a completely normal phenomenon that often occurs during work. Cable sag depends on many factors, such as:

• air temperature
• wind force
• the flexibility of support structures
• the quality of pole anchoring
• and the order of assembly of adjacent sections

In this case, the sag of the cables was precisely adjusted using turnbuckles. There was no need to pierce the ‘drawers’, i.e. the mounting clamps on the cable — a much more difficult, time-consuming solution requiring advanced equipment.

Thanks to the correction, the 400 kV Choczewo–Żarnowiec overhead high-voltage line was commissioned according to the investor’s schedule, i.e. till the end of 2025.
