Implementation Doctorate at Eltel Networks (LINTE^2 lab)

In the LINTE^2 laboratory, at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Automation of the Technical University of Gdansk, an experimental station was established to study the influence of soil parameters on the long-term current-carrying capacity of power cables. This station is related to research conducted by our employee, Filip Ratkowski, as part of his implementation doctorate. The aim of the measurements is to extend the available knowledge of heat transfer from the cable lines to the ground and to investigate the consequences – moisture migration, heating time of the cable line environment, thermal inertia of the ground and changes in thermal conductivity. The experimental installation is unique in that measurements to date on this topic have been conducted on installations under controlled laboratory conditions – the novelty of this approach is to examine the phenomenon on a simulated cable line under actual environmental conditions over a period of one or, perhaps, many years.
