Eltel Networks – why to work with us?

60 years of experience in the power industry, several hundred highly qualified employees, thousands of projects completed for power companies in Poland and worldwide… But this is not the only reason why Eltel Networks is worth cooperating with. The electric power industry appreciates us for our reliability, solution-oriented approach, flexibility in cooperation, ability to perform work even in the most difficult conditions, and exceptional attention to safety.

Eltel Network competence and way of working as well as its professional approach to projects undertaken are often appreciated by domestic and foreign partners. Our cooperation with contractors from Norway and United Kingdom, with whom we had the pleasure to work on the creation and renovation of transmission lines, was particularly appreciated.

1. Efficient and safe execution of work in difficult conditions

We can do it! In the Norwegian project (construction of a new 420 kV transmission line with a length of 90 km) we have proved that construction works carried out in an international project team (specialists from 6 countries), in difficult (arctic) conditions prevailing in northern Norway, can be carried out efficiently while maintaining the highest level of safety. As Eltel Networks Energetyka SA we were responsible not only for construction and assembly of particular elements of the project but also for supervision over subcontractors, quality control and full safety control, which is very important in this kind of projects.

Eltel Networks Energetyka SA teams has performed construction work at Reisadalen-Skillemoen new 420 kV transmission line project of 90 km in northern Norway for Eltel Networks AS (Norway) with Statnett SF being the client and TSO (Transmission System Operator). The cooperation in an international project team with participants from 6 countries was smooth, and our colleagues from Poland did a good job in completing the project under challenging conditions in remote areas, arctic climate, and often at high altitude. The Polish team was also appreciated for their strong focus on HSE, paramount in such projects.

Proactive attention to occupational safety is also our hallmark, which often determines that we are entrusted with the most difficult projects to implement – work at heights, in difficult climatic and terrain conditions.

Eltel Network primary focus is on eliminating potential hazards and preventing accidents, because in the energy construction industry every accident is a threat to health and life – there is no room for mistakes. Contractors highly value such safety policy. We have modern Training Centre, which is a unique European “testing ground” for electrical technicians working on overhead lines, due to which Eltel Network’s customers can be sure that security standards and procedures are practiced not only in theory, but also in practice, and the company’s employees, who feel cared about their safety, are willing to cooperate and take up the most demanding challenges with us.

The training ground was created in 2012 specifically to prepare for services for National Grid in England, which is the transmission grid operator with the highest safety standards in Europe, from where we brought excellent experience later implemented in our market. Maintaining such standard of work safety puts us at the forefront of power companies in Poland.

2. Comprehensive, reliable, proactive

What is important, safety goes hand in hand with comprehensiveness and ability to carry out even the most complex works, which is of great importance for investors. We offer consulting (technical and legal), project management even at the pre-execution stage (audits, risk analysis, etc.), we design and plan, develop conceptual and design documentation, realize the investment from A to Z, acting proactively at each stage of the project. We supervise 100% of the project execution, we are also responsible for subsequent maintenance and necessary upgrades of the erected lines and substations. Customers can be sure that the work entrusted to us is carried out reliably and effectively. That is why, many partners have been working with Eltel Networks for years.

3. Reliable, flexible collaboration with partners

One of the long-term satisfied customers of Eltel Networks companies in Poland is Murphy OHL Limited from United Kingdom for whom we have recently provided services for the construction of a 21 km overhead transmission line connecting the HVDC converter station in Richborough with the existing 400 kV substation in Canterbury. During the implementation of this project, we once again proved that we can effectively cooperate with both subcontractors of individual works and local teams that operate the power lines we modernize on a daily basis.

The aforementioned task (Richborough Connection) was also quite a challenge for our project teams. Mainly because this line was the first completely new 400 kV line built for National Grid since 1997 (previous projects involved rebuilding or upgrading existing lines), so you could say we blazed a new trail. In addition, the transmission system operator, through its technical specifications, has imposed a number of requirements on the project documentation being developed and the design process itself, making the UK electricity market one of the most stringent. However, thanks to the experience of our designers from Eltel Networks Engineering SA (then still Energoprojekt Kraków) and the use of modern, specialized engineering tools, the design goals were fully achieved.

In the final phase of the project, thanks to the work of our line brigades from Eltel Networks Energetyka SA and the cooperation of all contractors, the project for National Grid was completed several weeks ahead of schedule, ensuring timely power supply to the key NEMO link between England and mainland Europe.

We have worked in partnership with Eltel Networks in the UK since 2013, delivering overhead line refurbishment and new build projects, working on quad, triple and twin conductor systems at 132kV, 175kV and 400kV.

During the delivery of our recent 21km 400kV twin circuit project which linked the new interconnector HVDC convertor station at Richborough and an existing 400kV Sub-Station at Canterbury, Eltel Networks Energetyka team provided over 100 experienced linesmen and supervision who worked seamlessly with our local teams in the fabrication, installation and commissioning of 60 towers and 252km of conductor during a 26 week period.

The Eltel Networks Energetyka team have proved to be a reliable and flexible partner in supporting the delivery of our overhead line projects during our successful 8 year relationship.
