Completion of the 400 kV Czarna – Pasikurowice power line in the Dolnośląskie Voivodeship

Completion of the 400 kV Czarna – Pasikurowice power line in the Dolnośląskie Voivodeship

We are proud and pleased to announce that in March 2021 we completed the construction of a new 400 kV Czarna – Pasikurowice power line, commissioned by PSE SA. Electricity flowed for the first time in the new, modern infrastructure, ensuring the energy security of the Dolnośląskie Voivodeship

Up to now, the supply of nearly 3 million recipients in the region has largely depended on the old transmission line connecting the power stations “Mikułowa” near Zgorzelec, “Czarna” near Lubin and “Pasikurowice” near Wrocław. This connection was established in the early 1960s, so it has worked for over 60 years and required a thorough modernization. As part of the task, Eltel Networks as a contractor and consortium leader together with Elfeko SA:

  • they have completed all design, formal and legal works
  • built a 50-kilometer section of a 400 kV double-circuit power line on the route from pole 90 of the old Czarna – Pasikurowice line located in the Ruja commune to the Pasikurowice substation (SE)
  • connected the northern track of the newly built line with the remaining section of the existing 400 kV track from pole no. 90 to the Czarna SE, in order to create the Czarna – Pasikurowice connection
  • connected the southern track with the southern track of the 400 kV Mikułowa – Czarna section of the double-track line, which was built at the same time, thus creating the longest power line in the region
  • replaced the lightning conductor on the existing 33-kilometer section of the 400 kV line from Czarna substation to pole 90 in the Ruja commune.

The route of the new line runs through the area of 10 communes of the Dolnośląskie Voivodeship: Lubin, Ścinawa, Prochowice, Ruja, Malczyce, Środa Śląska, Miękinia, Oborniki Śląskie, Wisznia Mała and Długołęka. From the beginning of the investment, as a contractor and consortium leader, Eltel Networks conducted a dialogue with municipal authorities and residents so that the line would get an optimal route, taking into account the interests of all parties. Thanks to many years of experience and a professional approach to the construction of energy networks, we have managed to develop good relations with the parties involved and avoid conflicts. The construction of a new line will allow new energy sources, including renewable energy sources (RES), to be connected to the National Power System (NPS) in the future. The investment is co-financed by the Cohesion Fund under the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Program 2014-2020, as part of the project “Construction of the Czarna – Pasikurowice line along with the extension of the station in this line”, for the implementation of which PSE SA signed a financing agreement in December 2017.
