110 kV Koronowo–Świekatowo–Żur power transmission network, Poland
Construction of new 110 kV overhead power lines between Koronowo and Świekatowo and between Świekatowo and Żur, together with the extension of the 110/30/15 kV Koronowo substation and the construction of the 110 kV Świekatowo substation
When carrying out large-scale power projects, we encounter numerous design challenges, construction issues and changes in market conditions that have a significant impact on projects lasting several years – yet the strong, skilled and hard-working #AltergaTeam, working professionally and as a team, is able to tackle any problem.

CHALLENGE
Following the signature of the contract for the project, #AltergaTeam had to meet the requirements set out with the client:
- obtaining rights to dispose of real estate and limited property rights in the form of transmission easements, with an entry in the land and mortgage register, or obtaining another legal title under the Real Estate Management Act
- etermining the route of the Koronowo–Świekatowo and Świekatowo–Żur overhead lines
- arrangements with authorities, institutions and property owners
- obtaining an environmental decision
- obtaining a strategic location decision for the investment
- designing technical solutions in accordance with the investor’s standards and applicable laws, regulations and technical standards
- obtaining building permits and submitting notifications to the relevant authorities
- preparing detailed engineering designs
- installation of overhead line foundations, including earthing
- erection and installation of tower structures
- installation of live conductors, OPGW conductors and lightning protection conductors, including vibration dampers, bird diverters and the connection of fibre-optic cables
- the extension of the existing 110/30/15 kV Koronowo substation to include a new line bay, the construction of an internal access road, and the upgrading of the existing protection and telecontrol systems
- construction of a new 110 kV Świekatowo distribution substation, including a technical building and full substation infrastructure, with a switchyard providing 5 new line bays, including bays intended to supply the PKP traction substations in Wierzchucin and Serock; the facility is designed to be maintenance-free, with the option of remote control via a telemechanics controller; it is equipped with a Technical Protection System, and the layout of the equipment in the switchyard allows the facility to be subsequently expanded into a full HV/MV substation with two transformer bays
- reaching agreements with the State Forests and carrying out the required tree cutting
- voltage and load commissioning of the entire Koronowo-Świekatowo-Żur route, including measurements and notifications to the relevant authorities
- conducting administrative and court proceedings regarding compensation for land and property owners.
Furthermore, given that the project was carried out during the war in Ukraine – a period which resulted in a significant rise in the cost of services, materials, labour and equipment – ensuring the project’s profitability proved to be a major challenge. Thanks to the professional commitment of the #AltergaTeam and successful negotiations with the investor, the project’s objectives were achieved.
EFFECT
The completion of the Koronowo-Świekatowo-Żur project by #AltergaTeam enabled the client to carry out tasks closely linked to the plans for the modernisation of the Bydgoszcz–Gdynia main railway line (line no. 201), including the power supply to the traction substations in Wierzchucin and Serock.
At the same time, the main aim of this investment was to modernise and expand the high-voltage grid in the region in order to ensure a stable supply of electricity and facilitate the development of a modern energy sector. The surrounding municipalities of Koronowo, Pruszcz, Świekatowo, Lniano and Drzycim are developing rapidly, which is linked to increased demand for power from both residents and local businesses. Therefore, the project carried out by #AltergaTeam is part of the broader strategy of the Enea Operator Development Plan.
For Alterga, as the main contractor, the Koronowo-Świekatowo-Żur project provided an opportunity to consolidate its knowledge and experience, as well as to successfully meet the ever-increasing legal requirements in the rapidly growing market for electrical power construction technology
